4 Key Reasons I Started My Company

Like many other people, I currently work a full-time job. I have been working for my current employer for the last 11 years. During my years there, I have obtained my Bachelor of Science and also my MBA. Although my level of education increased, my pay barely increased (as is the case with many employees). In 2013 I decided I had had enough. I had already been in a situation of working a second job in addition to my full-time job and I knew that was no longer an option for me (because I didn’t like giving up all my time to employment). The bottom line was “I needed more money” in my household. I was very specific about what I was looking for. It had to be online (so that I could choose when I wanted to work instead of being told my hours), and it had to be something that I loved doing (which sadly enough, not enough people love what they do). When the opportunity to own an online business was presented to me, I immediately jumped at it because the advantages I was looking for were all there.

1. MORE MONEY

Whenever you work for someone else they essentially negotiate your worth. They give you an amount of what they want to pay you and its up to you as to whether or not you agree to that amount. And the worst part is, there is a glass ceiling. With my business, there is an unlimited income potential which means NO GLASS CEILING!!! I can make however much money I want to make. It all depends on my amount of effort. If I know I want to make a certain dollar amount in a certain month, I know the type and amount of activity I must put in to make it happen. As an employee, no matter how much activity I put in during a certain month, my pay will still be the same for that month (unless it’s a job that gives you the opportunity of working overtime, in which case you have to sacrifice your time to put in those extra hours).

2. MORE TIME

Because I knew that I didn’t want to work two jobs, having an online business made sense to me. The internet is open 24/7, so it gives me the flexibility to work my business when I want to and not when I’m told to. An added bonus is the ability to make money in my sleep (because people have access to my website any time day or night. Having my business online frees up a lot of my time that I would have otherwise been working for someone else if I had taken a second job. It gives me more time to spend with my family. Instead of leaving my day job and working a part-time job in the evenings and on weekends (with essentially no extra time to spend with family), I have the option of leaving my day job then working my business on a part-time basis but making a full-time income. The best part is that I get to choose when I want to work it. Not to mention that when you work for multiple employers, you are getting taxed multiple times.

3. SAVE ON MY TAXES

Being able to now understand and see the impact it has made in my household, I’m glad I said YES to starting my company.

4. SOMETHING I LOVED TO DO

Travel has always been something I loved to do. Two main reasons that most people cannot travel like they want to is because of two of the things I was looking for, time & money. They either don’t have enough time (because they’re working multiple jobs which also competes with their family time) or they don’t have enough money. Starting my business has given me more of both because of the reasons I mentioned above.

It wasn’t until after I had been in business for a few months and had a conversation with my now Mentor that I realized how many other people I wanted to tell about this opportunity, especially since many people experience the same time and money struggle. Why would I want to keep something this good to myself right? That’s when I began sharing what I do with everyone who was looking for what I had. I had a solution for two of their main problems. Today, three years later, my company is still thriving and I’m still showing people that are looking for solutions, how this can help them live life on their terms.
