Have you ever felt overwhelmed with everything you have going on in your life? Between being a parent, a spouse, a leader at work, and even in ministry at church, your life (and schedule) is being pulled in so many different directions. Add to all that, you also run a business too. You wear so many hats but sometimes trying to juggle it all gets the best of you. I wanted to create this post to show you how these 5 Creative Ways to Practice Self Care for Women can help you find harmony in all the obligations you juggle and keep your mind as uncluttered as possible.

1. Go on A Weekend Getaway

With everything that has been going on over the last year (thanks COVID-19), I’m sure you are ready for a getaway and some time away from the craziness this pandemic caused. Now that travel has eased up some, this timing might be perfect for you. If you’re not quite ready to jump on a plane yet, that’s okay. Jump in your car instead.

Planning a weekend getaway can be a great way for you to unwind, rest, refresh, and regroup. If you’re ready for some time away, you can even consider taking a solo getaway. Think about how much more effective you’ll be when you return back to your current duties as you know them. Some of those duties for you might include, being a parent, a spouse, working a vigorous full time job, or even two jobs. Whatever hats you wear, you owe it to yourself to take this much needed break so you can come back even stronger.

There are many ideas for the type of getaway you may want to plan. This can be a wine tour weekend, a total relaxation weekend at a nice spa resort, like Zoetry Resorts, which can be found in Mexico, Dominican Republic, and Jamaica. This is the perfect option if you decide on a wellness & spa type of weekend. You may want to turn your getaway into a weekend of shopping in a place like California or New York. There is somewhere for you to go no matter what you’re looking to do on your getaway.

If you’re ready to plan your next getaway and would love to save up to 50% off available travel savings, I want to offer you the option to have your very own free travel booking portal. Sign up here to start planning your next weekend getaway and saving on all your travel.

2. Plan A Day With Your Girls

This is always a lot of fun, especially when it comes to self care for women. You can plan a day of tours in your local hometown and become a true tourist in your city. Visit museums, parks, breweries, theaters, restaurants, spas, local tourist attractions, and so much more. Not only does this give you the opportunity to be a hometown tourist, but it also gives you some necessary bonding time with your girls.

This is especially fun if you and your girls don’t already have scheduled time to hang out with one another. If most of you have children, you can even make it a day out with the kids. Plus, when you activate your free travel portal above, you’ll be able to use it to plan out different activities and attractions you can see in your own hometown.

3. Go On A Drive Around Town

This, by far, is one of my favorite things to do when I need to unplug and change my scenery. You can do this in the evenings, after a long day at work, or on a weekend to unwind from a hectic week. Going for a drive is one of the most peaceful things you can do. Don’t even use your GPS. Jump in your car and go, with absolutely no destination. If you really need some peace and calm, turn the music off, roll the windows down, and open the sunroof. You can even go sit at one of your favorite parks to unwind.

You will soon find this to be calming and peaceful. Soon, it will become part of your regular routine to unwind. You’re going to be surprised at how many hidden locations you’re going to find around your city just by taking a drive with no destination.

4. Create A Calming Morning Routine

Having a morning routine will change your entire life, not just your morning or your day. The most successful people in the world have developed a morning routine, including myself. I schedule this time on my daily calendar and I don’t let anyone interfere with my morning routine. You can check out some of the things I do in my morning routine by checking out these 5 Steps to a Powerful Morning Routine.

If you’re a parent, schedule your morning routine to happen before your children wake up. If you don’t do it before they wake up, there is a 90% chance you won’t get it done for the day. I say this because once your children wake up, you have to tend to them before anything else. So, taking care of your morning routine first, will put you in the best mood possible when your children wake up. If you can’t take care of you first, it becomes a challenge when it’s time to take care of anyone else, especially as it relates to self care for women.

5. Put Your Phone On ‘Do Not Disturb’

Start out by doing this for at least one hour per day, or preferably during your morning routine. Between emails, social media, work, parenting, spousal obligations, and so much more, you’re being pulled in so many directions throughout the day. Sometimes it’s good for you to be inaccessible to others and going on ‘do not disturb’ will help you do this.

This has become one of my favorite features on my phone, especially on a particularly busy day. My phone is on ‘Do Not Disturb’ as I’m writing this post. This feature keeps me from getting notifications during the time it is enabled. That means I won’t receive any new email, texts, nor phone call notifications. Talk about peace and quiet! This allows me to get much more done without interruptions. As for the texts and phone calls, the only notifications that will come through are from those people that I have saved under my ‘favorites’ list.

Don’t be surprised if you find yourself using this option more times throughout the day in the future. Once you realize how much more you’re able to get done when it’s enabled, that will be a game changer. This feature is also good to use when you are spending time with your family or friends. You can use it when you’re in important meetings or at certain events. It really gives you that freedom to have uninterrupted time.

I hope these 5 Creative Ways to Practice Self Care for Women has helped you understand why you should always come first and how to make sure that happens. Remember, if you aren’t taking care of you, how can you take care of someone else?
