Can you remember the last book you read? What was it? Seriously, I want to know, so make sure you drop it in the comments below this post. I’ve always had a deep love for reading, especially now more than ever. For 2020, I’ve compiled a list of life-changing books that I will be reading. My personal goal is to read at least 3 new books each month. Throughout this year, I will be sharing many of these books with my readers. Not because I want to brag, but because I want you to also know the types of books that can change your life too. In my first post of 2020, I shared 9 Secrets to Level Up Your 2020 and in today’s post, I’ll be sharing 4 Books to Read While Leveling Up in 2020.
Book #1: The Magic of Thinking Big
This first book is one of the book’s that I read last month, titled “The Magic of Thinking Big” by David Schwartz. This is another goodie that was recommended to me by my Mentor. The first three chapters alone of this book are a mindset disruption (in a positive way of course). Three points taken from the first three chapters are:
- Let the master thought, “I will succeed,” dominate your thought process. Thinking success conditions your mind to create plans that produce success.
- Believe big. The size of your success is determined by the size of your belief. Think little goals and expect little achievement. Think big goals and win big success.
- Drop the excuses. Go deep into the study of people, and you’ll discover unsuccessful people suffer from what is known as excusitis. You will find that the more successful the individual, the less inclined he is to make excuses.
This book will help you understand the value of dropping your excuses. Plus, it’s also going to teach you how to put things in proper perspective. In addition to that, you’ll learn how to build your confidence in the process.
Book #2: The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People
This is the book I am currently reading. This is one of my personal fav’s. I’ve read it in the past but this time around, I am dissecting it even more to understand each habit discussed on a deeper level. In doing so, I want to share some of my favorite and most insightful quotes/points from the book which are:
– “Leadership is communicating others’ worth and potential so clearly that they are inspired to see it in themselves.”
– “The 7 Habits represent the internalization of correct principles upon which enduring happiness and success are based.”
– “Each of us has many, many maps in our head, which can be divided into two main categories: 1) Maps of the way things are, or realities, and 2) Maps of the way things should be, or values.”
– “The more aware we are of our basic paradigms, maps, or assumptions, and the extent to which we have been influenced by our experience, the more we can take responsibility for those paradigms, examine them, test them against reality, listen to others and be open to their perceptions, thereby getting a larger picture and a far more objective view.”
Before one can be successful in actions, you have to first think successful then develop the habits that breed success. This is a book that shows you exactly how to do that. The above are only a few reasons why this book is one of my favorite amongst the 4 Books to Read While Leveling Up in 2020.
Book #3: The Richest Man in Babylon
I have not personally read this book but it is on my list of books to read for 2020. This will more than likely be the next book I read. Understanding the importance of personal finances and credit is something my Aunt started instilling in me as a teenager. Through the years, I didn’t always listen to all her lessons and bumped my head many times. You’ve probably been there a time or two yourself. You know how it is when you have to hear your parents say the “I told you so’s and shoulda, coulda, woulda’s.” Once I began developing healthier money and credit habits, it made an enormous impact on my life. They say cash is King, well credit is too!
In researching more about this book I’ve learned it’s principles are guided with many financial perspectives. This book breaks down the ancient laws of prosperity as practiced by the Babylonians. If you’re interested in developing a healthier money mindset and learning how to travel the path to real wealth, this book is a guide that can help you with that.
Book #4: The Millionaire Next Door: The Surprising Secrets of America’s Wealthy
This is another book that is on my list of 4 Books to Read While Leveling Up in 2020. Building wealth isn’t a matter of just knowing how to make money. It’s a matter of developing certain habits, a certain mindset, and making the right investments and decisions over all. This post on The 10 Commandments of Wealth Building is a great resource to understand the right principles to adopt to build your wealth.
In conclusion, I wanted to provide you with some books to read that cover various areas while you are leveling up in 2020. There will be more books to come that I will discuss throughout the year, however these should be a great starting point for you. Don’t forget to let me know in the comments below the last book you read.
